We aim to provide the best training for talented, motivated children of all ages. Primrose Hill Ballet endeavours to make their students become more aware of themselves, their skills, abilities, interests and values. We will encourage all students to develop and flourish in a happy supportive environment, directing natural talents to grow, supporting life skills and developing creativity. We feel that liaison between arts and the home is a very important one and we do all in our power to foster this relationship. No matter what course you eventually choose – Ballet, Modern, Tap, Jazz or Musical Theatre - it will be an enjoyable experience, a healthy activity that increases self-discipline and self-confidence & hopefully giving a lifetime of enjoyment and fun.
Weekday Ballet classes are based on the syllabus of the R.A.D. and encompass the age range from 3 to 18 years. Yearly examinations are taken from 5 years of age upwards and more than 100 pupils each year successfully achieve high merits and distinctions in graded R.A.D and I.S.T.D modern and tap examinations. R.A.D Major examination candidates all achieve high merits and distinctions.
Several pupils from the Primrose Hill Ballet School now attend the Royal Ballet School in Covent Garden, having been given places as Junior, Mid, and Senior Associates on Saturdays.
Principal Katie Pick began Ballet Classes at the age of 3 in The New Forest, Hampshire; soon she was taking classes 5 nights a week! At the age of 13 Katie was traveling up to London every weekend to Train at Arts Educational School, Chiswick & The Urdang Academy, Covent Garden, where her passion for dance grew stronger.
After completing her G.C.S.E’s at The Atherley School For Girls, Southampton, Katie gained a coveted place at Arts Educational School Tring Park where she trained on the Dance & Musical Theatre Courses, and gained her first taste of performing on the West End Stage with the ‘Gala’ at the Shaftsbury Theatre, London.
After completing her A-Levels & the 2-year course at Tring Park, Katie was offered a scholarship to the acclaimed London Studio Centre! After graduating in 2008 with Honours in Ballet, Jazz Dance and a Foundation Degree in Theatre Dance, Katie has worked extensively within the industry. Jobs include, West End Shows, National Tours, TV Commercials & Music Videos.
Katie attended the world renowned Royal Academy Of Dance where she gained her Certificate In Ballet Teaching Studies. She has also taught at the acclamied Arts Educational School, Chiswick and The Laird Academy Of Dance & Drama. Miss Katie also had the pleasure of meeting Darcey Bussell at an RAD Teaching Awards Ceromony in 2015.
Katie is also a successful model and has worked for some acclaimed publications. Her most recent shoot was for Vogue UK, Royal Academy Of Dance & Fortnum & Mason
Classes take place at Swiss Cottage Community centre in Belsize Park/Swiss Cottage & Henderson Court in Hampstead. The studios are equipped with sprung floors, mirrors and ballet bares. The onsite cafe is a perefect place for parents to enjoy a coffee while their daughter/son enjoys the class upstairs!
